Prior to Scotland

Back track to day #1 before we arrived in Scotland, here's some crazy snapshots we took.

Prior to Singapore-London flight:

That's our plane, the Airbus A380!

Some random camwhoring pics we took while transiting in London.

Posing at Kesington Park

Surprise surprise

I was looking out of the window and to my utter amazement I saw this.

It's a PINK Limo! It's parked right in front of our apartment!
I have never really seen a real PINK limo before, so since it matches my blog template, I thought of posting it here... hehe...

Weekend Cookout

Today, we were supposed to go to the Malaysian booth at Holyrood Park, hoping to sample some Malaysian delicacies! When CT checked the internet, the roadshow actually ends yesterday (22 Aug 2008)..No!!! We've missed it! :(

So that's why we're at home today, and since we have no other agenda lined up, we decided to cook something nice for lunch and dinner!

All in all, it's still yummy!! :)

Fantastic Friday

Yesterday we had a company celebration inconjunction with a strong Q3 quarter for our department. We were quite lucky as we did not miss the one in Penang as well, not bad, two celebrations within a month!

The celebration began at 1.30 pm, I was starving at that time, luckily it was "Donut day", and I managed to gobble down a few slices before that or I'd have die of hunger by the time the celebration begins! Oh did I mention that the Donut was heavenly! Soft texture, not to sweet, just nice for my liking.

For the celebration, pizza (vegetarian and meat variety) with curly fries were served. As for drinks, only beers and soft drinks. No, I didn't take any beer, although I am tempted to, but I figured we will go out shopping later, I'd rather remain sober :). Oh yeah, it is Summer Sales now!Topshop, Mango, Dorothy Perkins, u name it,they are all are slashing their prices like crazy...can u imagine, a nice top that would have cost above RM100 back home costs only about 3-7 pounds here?Yes, I am going nuts!

Oh, since it was celebration day, we left earlier that day (it's Friday anyway), and went for dinner at a packed but popular family-run Kebab restaurant downtown called Kebab Mahal. Oh yeah, the Kebabs there are really "Mahal"...hahaha...
We ordered a plate of Beriani Rice with our favourite Bindi dish(Ladies' fingers)..yum yum!

On our way home, we dropped by The Underbelly, a Fringe Festival Location near the Edinburgh University. The site is actually an "Underbelly of a cow". I couldn't believe it, they set up a huge purple inflatable with the shape of a cow lying upside down, thus exposing the "Underbelly"! so creative..hahaha..!

This is the upside down purple cow with its underbelly exposed!

Next we checked out the Edinburgh University Medical Campus nearby which is also another Fringe Venue called the Sweet Teviot Place. Over here, a young man recommended to us a stand-up comedy by this guy called Jason Kavan. He gave rave reviews on his performances and persuaded us to watch his show . Since we do not have any agenda that day and although we had planned to get a ticket from the half price booth tomorrow, we thought of giving it a try and gave in to his persuassion! The ticket cost us 6 pounds each (we impersonated as students :D so we get the concession tickets) and the show started at 9pm. As we walked into the makeshift stage, we were shocked! There were like maybe just 3 rows of chairs with a microphone in front. Including us, there were barely 10 of us, audience.

I shall not talk about what was the performance like but the worst part is that this guy doesn't even have an agenda to talk! He was basically "chatting" with us! No stand-up comedy material, much to my chagrin, just normal chit-chatting. In my mind, I was cursing and cursing because I couldn't believe that my 6 pounds' worth of investment is going down the drain! At one point, he mentioned that his wife ought to be visiting him that day (he's from London), thus he had bought two tickets to this stand-up comedy from this popular comedian, Omid Djalili(I have no idea who he is initially too). But his wife could not make it in the end, thus he was left with two 17 pounds ticket that he could not attend since he gotta make our 6 pounds' worth by "chatting" to us!. The show starts at 9.45 pm by the way and he decided to give it away for free as not to waste it (I guess he knew that his show sucks too!). As he was waving the tickets in the air, I grabbed the chance of course! How can I bear staying in his show any longer?Ugh!!

This opportunity turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Omid DJalili's show is located at Pleasance Grand at Pleasance Courtyard, a huge theater unlike the makeshift ones(We got lost finding this place, and we were almost out of breath by the time we found the place). The theater was full house that day, such a good sign and we were very satisfied this time, at least our 6 pounds worth of investment now equates to a 17 pounds sell-out show from a very popular BBC comedian! Oh, fantastic!

So how's Omid? Wow..he is such a genius! I could understand at least 70% of his jokes, which is good enough considering I am not British! ..He is a British Iranian btw, and boy he is so daring, talking bout terrorism, racism and all, wow..I love British humor, they are so open-minded!

After the show, we could not find our way home. We were too confident of ourselves this time so we didn't bring along a map. Thank goodness a good samaritan gave us a map and after clocking an additional 10 miles, we found our way home, alas! A lesson well learnt!

I shall post some pictures up next!

Whenever I'm free & Whatever that pops out of my mind!

Hi there...here's me kickin' off with my very first entry here...

Today is my very first weekend here in the UK with my colleague CT. As we are enjoying our life now (before our hectic work life really kicked off!) , we have decided that we should keep a journal about our day-to-day life. We both knew that we will do loads of crazy stuffs together, experimenting on recipes, have heart2heart talks, go travelling and not to mention, clocking many miles each day on our foot, thus experiences are aplenty for sure!.. so here's the birth of this very blog of our lives..a testament of OUR life, also mostly on MY life as well albeit it is only for 3 months!

Have a good read :)
